My Thoughts on Music, Anger, and Technology

Recently, I've been thinking more and more and I have not had a chance to write it all down... So, I finally decided to take three of my most recent topics and write some brief thoughts on them down!

MUSIC

What would the world be without music? Honestly... what do you think it would be like?! Music expresses emotions, such as sadness, love, and joy. Without music, those would just be bottled up and kept from the world. Music is also for people's listening enjoyment. It's not always true (most of the time it isn't, actually), but it can help people with something they're going through, or be a new favorite song for others! Without music, the world would be a somewhat dull place...

ANGER

It's not a bad thing, to tell you the truth. Think about it... Anger is the opposite of happiness. Without anger, happiness would have no opposite and really couldn't even exist. Well, I guess that in theory, happiness could exist, but someone would have to have the opposite of it sometime and it really would just not be able to be identified as a certain emotion. Anger isn't bad itself, even not thinking about happiness. It lets people know more things about what they don't like and need to try to stay away from. It educates a person to avoid things they get the certain emotion of anger from.

TECHNOLOGY

Every day, the world is being improved and getting a little bit easier. But I want to question if it's really all a good thing. I mean, I love flat screens and laptops as much as you and the next person does, but I'm not sure it's actually good. If a teleporter that you could take to any location in the world, people would no longer really even have a reason to move other than to go to that teleporter. I'm not saying that all types of technology are bad. For instance, advances in medication affect us for the better. It helps add to the life expectancy. Every time they come out with something new, it makes us want to ditch the stuff we just bought and go for that new item because it has a great special feature. I do that too, so don't worry that you're the only one ;) It's hard to say no to the things that are bigger (or in some cases, smaller and more portable is a good thing) and better.

Just a few thoughts running through my head... ;)

Passive Vs. Aggressive

I have always been very passive... Just going with the flow. Don't really try to argue when something's not exactly what I would like... I talk in a very relaxed voice (most of the time) and I'm a good listener.....

.....And then, there's my sister. She's full of aggressiveness. Even at (almost) age ten, she still cries and whines every time something's not perfect... For example, just two days ago, she went to McDonalds and she asked for no lettuce, tomatto, pickles, etc... (you know, the rest of the stuff they usually put on a burger).... So, she got her burger and she saw it had everything on it. She yelled out "WHAT! I CAN'T EAT THIS!!" *she threw the burger against the table* "MOM! THIS IS NOT HOW I WANTED IT!!! AAAGGGGHHHHRRR!!!!"

You, of course, can predict that my mom gave her a good talking to after that. That is a very good example of aggressive behavior -well, maybe a little more than a typical example of it...

It's amazing to compare my sister and I as far as attitudes and opinions... It's actually quite a difference... *sigh*

I don't think it's good to be either one of these, but possibly right in the middle. I mean, you can avoid the whining and out-of-controlness (if that's a word), but you don't just go along with what people tell you. You have the ability to make choices for yourself and are good at compromising. And when you don't get the way you want, you don't over-react and just keep your cool =)

My Thoughts on Complaints

But mom! I don't want pizza for dinner!! *insert whining here*

Hearing my sister complain about nearly everything that doesn't go her way gets VERY obnoxious. It really ticks me off.... A LOT! You want to know why? Of course you do or you wouldn't be reading this entry.

It ticks me off because we are so fortunate to have all these extra things in this world that make our lives so much more pleasing. We are very fortunate. By questioning the way someone provides something that would be considered a treat to have in most other parts of the world really makes me question whether or not having all these extra things in the United States is a good thing. Maybe it makes us more greedy or grouchy as a society. *sigh*

My Thoughts on Possibly the Stupidest Topic Ever...

Okay, I was watching T.V. this morning and I saw that an ad for microwavable chicken. I looked at it and they were saying that it wasn't grilled, it was for the microwave. But, on the chicken, you could see the marks like it was just off the grill... Why? What is the point of those marks? I just don't get it... Anyone know why they'd have grill marks on a microwavable piece of chicken? ......sigh.......

My Thoughts on Racism

It's disturbing to me how someone can be discriminated against because of what their skin color or heritage is. It really bothers me. Slowly, the country is getting better at it, but as generations go on, people from generations before them pass on their ideas of racism that they learned from the generation before them and so on. "What's wrong with those people?" I ask myself when I think about the racism in this country. The truth is (at least the way I see it) is that there is nothing wrong with them, they just are different from you. So what? Everyone has their differences. For example, you and I are not alike. We look completely different in our body appearances. So, why do we have discrimination running so freely in this country? I can never seem to answer that question, no matter how many times I ask it. It's sad really...

My Thoughts on Our Crashing World

When I watch the news now days, I get sad. It's amazing to see what's going on and why it's happening. Amazing in a bad way. We've got issues with the stock market, gas prices and shortages, and the war in Iraq.

The stocks are falling and the market is almost guaranteed to crash sometime soon. It's not looking good.

Then, there's gas prices... and in many states, gas is VERY hard to find. I am friends with many people in those states and I can't imagine what they're going through.

Many people are dying every day in Iraq and spouses and children are losing their loved ones. It makes me sad especially on the topic of the war and mad at the fact that we're over there and many people are dying each day on both sides.

The world is about to go through some tough times and everyone's going to be along for one heck of a ride...

.....and now that it's started, chances are it's not about to stop. Just something running through my head...

My Thoughts on Friends

It's been a few months since I last posted here and someone mentioned the other day that I should start writing on the blog again... Well, I've started school and everything's going pretty well. I'd like to talk about friends today. I've made a few since school started and I just wanted to talk about them.

We've got new friends we've just met and old friends we've known for a long time. Now that I've moved back to Oregon, I'm catching up with some friends that were very awesome friends before. I enjoy catching up with them and we are having a great time talking and catching up.

I've also met some new friends at school. Now, my old friends don't go to my school, so I need to know someone that I can hang out with. So, I met this group of three, partly by mistake actually. I walked in at lunch on the first day and sat at any table I decided. Well, I sat down and three girls that you can all tell have very different personalities based on their looks come and sit down. They started off by saying "Hi, how are you?" and it went on from there. I share two classes with one of them, so she knew me from there. Within the next few days, just as any friends would, we found out what we had in common and each other's personalities. Week 6 of the school year and we're still hanging out and we talk as if we knew each other our whole lives.

So, anyway, the point is that you can be friends with people, almost anyone, even if it's by chance. You should keep your old friends and shoot to hang out with some new ones every now and then =)

My Thoughts on Creativity

It seems as though, especially in the last few years, that people are being less and less creative. They don't seem to be using their minds to come up with things, as much as they used to. Why is that? If no one uses their creative part of their minds, no new ideas will be introduced and, eventually, we'll get to the point where society crumbles.

I am glad that many books and new ideas are constantly being introduced. But, if you look at my age group - highschool and teenager area - and really look at how much they're putting creativity into things, it doesn't seem like a lot... Just something running through my head ;)

My Thoughts on Popularity

What makes a person popular? Is it based on how many friends you have? What kind of clothes you wear? Shoes? How much money your family has? How good or bad your grades are? WHAT?!

I personally disagree with the thought that a certain person or group of people has to be considered higher than the rest of the school community... I really just don't understand it... Plus, it seems that the worse your grades are, the more popular you get... But, why? Shouldn't the kids who actually pay attention and work hard in school be popular? I mean, it makes sense that the smarter kids should be popular because they're the ones who are going to have a future and not be working at some hotdog stand making so little, you can barely afford to live... I just don't understand why social standings exist... *sigh* Just something running through my head ;)

My Thoughts on Bad Words

I had this conversation with my grandma a little while ago... Why do bad words have to be labeled as "bad"... What separates them from the rest of the words in the dictionary? Why do they have to be negative and why can't they be labeled as average words? I just don't understand it... Labeling them as "bad" words just makes kids think they're cooler to say and they get in trouble for saying them.... I mean, come on... They don't sound repulsive or unattractive... So, again I ask: Why are they "bad" words?

I'm neutral on whether cussing is okay or not. I don't care if someone cusses to my face. They can think what they want. I don't care. However, I think there are words that can replace them that make some people more comfortable in public... I don't cuss... I don't understand the point. I don't understand why you have to say words that are marked as "bad" in society to fit in at your school or other places... *sigh* Just something running through my mind... ;)

My Thoughts on Clothes

I went school shopping today and I noticed that there seem to be way too many skull and crossbone shirts... And the sad part to me is that they are incredibly popular and in style... Why would you want to wear a shirt around with topics of death and skeletons...? It actually makes me worry even more about what kind of a wold we're becoming... =(

What this blog is about

To start the blog off, I want to explain what it's for. It's a blog of my thoughts, feelings, and experiences as I go through life. This blog is more personal than about Letterboxing. So, enjoy the blog... =)
